The members of the Mount Vernon City Council unanimously approved moving forward with establishing a planning and zoning board. The council took the action at their regular meeting Monday night, February 10.
Councilman Ralph Robertson had raised concerns over potential disorganized development of key properties in the city. He proposed that this board be tasked with the update of the master plan for the city, which should be done in five year cycles.
