A petition calling for an election for the countywide sale of beer and wine in Franklin County is falling short of signatures needed to require an election. With eight days left to the March 28 deadline to turn in the petition,
approximately 300 of the almost 1,200 signatures needed have been collected, according to Benny Scarbrough, who with his wife, Lisa, organized the effort. For details on where to find petitions to sign, see the March 20 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
