A large tree fell across Holbrook St. (Spur 423) near the railroad crossing on Thursday, July 17 around 1 p.m. during heavy rains. It snapped a power pole and took down power lines causing an outage for residences in the area.
A crew from TxDOT and city workers cleared the debris after employees with SWEPCO secured the electric lines. The roadway was reopened to traffic around 5 p.m. Franklin County received 4.39 inches of rain on Thursday, which is more than was received for the entire month of April.
