The Mount Vernon City Council unanimously voted for a proposed tax rate of $0.604382 per $100 of valuation to fund the 2014-15 Budget. That rate is expected to yield revenues of $658,330 if at least 95 percent of the taxes levied are collected.
Although the rate is the same as 2013-14, the revenues are expected to be about $56,125 higher. Two public hearings on the tax rate are set to hear public comment.
