Winfield police officers Brad Wardrup and Charlie Walker were released Monday, March 12 to return to their normal duties.
The pair were on paid administrative leave following the fatal shooting of a suspect in their custody at Winfield the last day of February. Texas Ranger Ken Bond of Texarkana is heading the continuing investigation into the circumstances of the incident. “Both officer’s statements have been taken by Trooper Bond, and he is continuing with his case preparation at this time,” Winfield Police Chief Tyler Banister said.
