Franklin County Commissioners Court members voted not to ban fireworks during the Independence Holidays at a special meeting Friday. Fire Marshal Gerry Allen did not recommend a ban since the drought index rating was 200-300 for the area. He noted that there were four more chances for rain before June 25. Commissioners asked that people be reminded that even without a ban, individuals are liable for property damage or destruction caused by fireworks. Reckless damage or destruction is a Class C misdemeanor criminal offense.
