Lowry named to Basketball Academic All State

Grant LowryGrant Lowry, a senior at Mount Vernon High School, has been named to the Basketball Academic All-State team. To be considered, an eligible basketball player must be of good moral character, a senior, and have an overall grade point average of 92 or above.

Debate team claims third place in district

Kristen Blase and Jessica MinterKristen Blase and Jessica Minter captured third place at the district Cross Examination Debate meet in February. The finish qualifies the pair as alternates at the state competition March 10-11.

During the last week to register as a candidate, two more candidates filed their applications for a place on the Mount Vernon ISD ballot as a School Board Trustee.

Nominations sought for School League of Honor

Nominations are being sought for the 2014 Franklin County Schools League of Honor. This is the 12th year for the program, which honors outstanding graduates and employees of the Franklin County Schools in a “League of Honor.”

Bohlken top winner in 4-Way Speech

Bailey Bohlken won first place in the local Rotary Four Way Test Speech Contest.
