Fifth grade students experience pioneer living

Fifth grade students in their pioneer clothing, including Indian, old west, colonial, and early American attire.The Mount Vernon Intermediate fifth grade class celebrated the past by taking part in a fun filled day designated to achieve awareness of life as it was years ago.

School district decides not to address religion based complaints

Mount Vernon ISD has decided not to address complaints received from the Freedom From Religion Foundation six weeks ago. The FFRF’s complaint to MVISD was about religious postings, crosses and Bible verses in some classrooms, and quotes on the walls that reference religion.

Jingle Bell Jog December 20

The third annual Jingle Bell Jog sponsored by the Lady Tiger Softball team will be Saturday, December 20 at Don Meredith Stadium.

Veterans Day program

Patti Sells presented a program to second grade students at Saltillo ISD on Veterans DayPatti Sells presented a program to second grade students at Saltillo ISD on Veterans Day, November 11. Her son, Sgt. Tanner Stone Higgins, 1/75 Ranger, was killed in action in Afganistan April 14, 2012. Another son, Specialist Dillon Henegar is currently serving in Afghanistan.
