Seniors to be honored

Senior participants in fall activities will be honored during the school’s pep rally and at the final home football game of the 2013 season on Friday, November 8.

Turkey Bowling Tuesday, November 5

Mount Vernon Elementary School will conduct their third annual Turkey Bowling event on Tuesday, November 5. Students can compete against each other and their parents in a wild game using frozen turkeys as the bowling balls.

PTO Fall Festival Saturday, October 26

The Mount Vernon ISD Fall Festival will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 26 in front of the elementary school. Plenty of parking will be available in the rear of the school.

Intermediate school to celebrate Red Ribbon Week

Students at Mount Vernon Intermediate School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week October 28-November 1 with dress up days and other classroom activities.

Pink Out set for Friday

Pink Out the Meredith Stadium has been planned for the Mount Vernon Tigers versus Daingerfield football game on Friday, October 25. Game time will be at 7:30 p.m. Community members are urged to wear pink during the day on Friday and to the game that night.

Theatre class at the fair

Mount Vernon High School theatre classMembers of the Mount Vernon High School theatre class attended the Texas State Fair in Dallas on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and attended a showing of The Lion King  at the State Fair Music Hall.

Debate team honored by school board

Members of the high school debate teams were honored during the school board meeting on Monday night at the school.The Mount Vernon High School Debate Team received special recognition during the Mount Vernon ISD School Board meeting on Monday, October 14. The team recently competed in a tournament and placed in fourth, fifth, and sixth places. For more information, see the October 17 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Tiger Band performs at CountryFest

Mighty Tiger Marching BandMembers of the Mighty Tiger Marching Band performed on the CountryFest stage before traveling to Mount Pleasant and receiving straight ones at the Northeat Texas Marching Contest in Mount Pleasant.
