FFA banquet Thursday, May 12

Supporters and friends of the Mount Vernon High School FFA are welcome to attend the chapter’s year end awards banquet and silent auction set for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in the high school dining hall.

Nursery Landscape team advancing to State

Nursery Landscape team members are Brandon Williams, McKay Patrick, Julia Minter, and Hylke Talsma.The Nursery Landscape CDE team earned first place at the Texas A&M - Commerce Area VI CDE contest April 5. They are advancing to the state contest on Friday, April 29 at Sam Houston State University. Team members are Brandon Williams, McKay Patrick, Julia Minter, and Hylke Talsma.

Cheerleaders receive All-State honors

On the heals of their State Championship, nine members of the Mount High School Cheerleading squad have been selected for All-State honors. The Texas Girls Coaches Association recently released the listing for the 1A through 6A conferences.

FFA team advances to Nationals

Natalie Oud, Hylke Talsma, and Brandon WillimsNatalie Oud, Hylke Talsma, and Brandon Willims, members of the Home Site Evaluation Team from Mount Vernon High School, placed first in the State and earned the right to advance to the National competition.

Homesite evaluation team headed to State

Homesite Evaluation CDE Team members are  Brandon Williams, Natalie Oud, and Hylke Talsma.The Homesite Evaluation CDE Team will compete at the State event at Tarleton State University on Thursday, April 21.  Team members are Brandon Williams, Natalie Oud, and Hylke Talsma. Long named Best Actor, public performance Saturday

Kaden Long was named Best Actor at the Regional One Act Play competition Thursday, April 21 at Tyler Junior College. The Mount Vernon High School One Act Play did not advance.

Land judging first at Area

Land Judging team members are Cade Hyman,  Kristopher Siddens, Savanna Oud, and Layton Wright.The Land Judging team placed first at the Area contest and will compete at the State competition at Tarleton State University on Thursday, April 21.
