One-Act Play to repeat State appearance

Academic UIL team wins District title for third time running

For the third year in a row, the Mount Vernon High School UIL Academic team has won the District title. The group has advanced to the Region II competition at Tyler Junior College April 23-25.

Meeks to lead Tigers, again

Dickey Meeks has been named as the incoming Boys Athletic Director for Mount Vernon High School. His first day will be Friday, May 1 contingent upon the approval of members of the Mount Vernon School Board

Million word threshold surpassed by 11 students

Students who read more than two million words with teachers Desirae Long and Linda Baird.At the beginning of the school year, the staff at Mount Vernon Intermediate School  (MVIS) challenged their students to read one million words in testable books for the 2014-15 school year.

Dual language program meeting Tuesday

A second opportunity for parents of incoming Kindergarten age children to learn about the Dual Language Two Way program will be Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria.
