Black Onyx Club members Richard and Linda Barrett, Dr. LaVelle Hendricks, and Darlene Hatcher, joined Rosalie and Frank Turner, and Superintendent John Kaufman for the program presented to Mount Vernon Intermediate School Students about the early days of desegregation in America.
Award-winning author Rosalie T. Turner recently presented a program on the early days of desegregation in America. Mrs. Turner based her talk on her own experiences during that time, which she has detailed in her latest book, Come March With Me, published in 2013. It is a story about the establishment of civil rights legislation, with the cold and sometimes brutal facts about racial hatred of those days See the April 17 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more information about this presentation.
