Mount Vernon ISD school board members began the budget process for the 2014-15 school year in a special meeting on Tuesday, July 22 and are considering voting for a deficit budget.
The group will meet again Thursday, July 31 to continue their discussion. At the beginning of the meeting, Superintendent John Kaufman presented a budget that included expenditures of $13,567,638. That number is $402,901 greater than the budget amount that was passed in August 2013. For more details on what items are included in the budget see the July 31 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
