Graveside services for Nelda Allen Romines, age 84 of Mount Vernon, were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Henderson with the Rev. Michael Stewart officiating.
Ms. Romines was born on May 23, 1929 in Sweet Gum, Tex., to Horace Blanchard Allen and Elizabeth Dark Allen. She married Burton Truman Romines on Jan. 15, 1949 in Rusk County. She worked in retail management and was of the Baptist faith.
She died on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Mission Manor Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Hubert Allen and Jerry Allen.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Blanchard and Debbie Romines of Leland, N. C., and Garry and Marsha Romines of Mount Vernon, three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Jean and Fred of Bossier City, La., Vicki Elaine Glenn of Houston, and Maxie Carol and Toby Poling of Pollock, Tex.; three sisters, Doris Miller and Tommie Bassett of Henderson, and Carolyn Jones of Artesia, N. Mex.; 11 grandchidren and 18 great-grandchildren.
