Funeral services for Logan Rhea Shewmake, age 81 of Justin, Tex., were at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the First Christian Church of Denton with Rev. John Burton officiating.
Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro.
Mr. Shewmake was born Sept. 23, 1932 in Mineral Wells to Wesley “Wade” Shewmake and Hazel Fannie Adams Shewmake. He married Georgie Lee Alcorn on Aug. 18, 1951 in Mineral Wells. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Denton, and was a Master Mason, Shriner, DeMolay Advisor, member of the Rotary Club and Eastern Star, two historical associations, and the Black Power Shooting Club. He had retired from the U. S. Navy, the Franklin County Water District, and the State of Tennessee Board of Education.
He died Friday, Nov. 29 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kathryn Gleason, and his brothers, Wesley Adams Shewmake and Phillip Royce Shewmake. His sister, Yvonne Williams of Jacksboro, died on Dec. 3, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Georgie Shewmake of Justin; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Brian Shewmake, Sr., and Paula of Justin; a sister, Ann King of Santa Fe, Tex.; three grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pat Evans, a brother-in-law, Bill Alcorn, and two nephews, Tim Evans and Bryan Alcorn, all of Mount Vernon.
Pallbearers were Wesley Williams, Charles Wade Shewmake, Bryan Alcorn, Jerald Stinnett, and Christopher Stinnett.
