Funeral services for Lorraine Jecke Simms, age 97 of Lake Cypress Springs, were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery with Pastor Jack Wallace officiating.
Mrs. Simms was born in Andale, Kans. on Sept. 16, 1916 to Charles Peter and Irene Henderson Jecke. She was a retired civil servant, having worked for over 40 years for the Air Force in Montgomery, Ala. and the Navy in Pensacola, Fla. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnsboro, belonged to the Edelweiss Club at church, and the Camelot Book Club in her community at Lake Cypress Springs.
She died Friday, Dec. 6 in Sulphur Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarke Simms, and two sisters, Cleo Baker and Thelma Knapp.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Anne Simms of Lake Cypress Springs; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren
