Funeral services for John Ramey Dikes, age 49 of Mount Vernon were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Wallace officiating.
Burial was at the Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Dikes was born on April 24, 1964 in Fort Benning, Ga. to Billie and Elva Irene Martin Dikes. He specialized in automotive restoration, working at Collvins Collision Repair. He graduated from Burkburnett High School, attended Tarleton State University, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon.
He died Friday, Dec. 27 at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Richard Newcombe of Plano; a brother and sister-in-law, Braxton M. and Ginna Dikes of New Caney; his nephews, William Dikes, Rhett Morgan, Luke Newcombe and niece, Hannah Dikes; an uncle Bill and aunt Mary Martin of Lindale.
Pallbearers were Rhett Morgan, Damon Tofte, Jonathon Dunn, James Musgrave, Jay Phillips, and Rob Roy.
Memorials may be made to the SPCA, First United Methodist Church children’s ministry or the American Cancer Society.
