Funeral Services for Randall Lee “Rose” Shortnacy, age 48, were Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at the Trinity Baptist Church. Bro Shiles Hubbell, Jeff Julian, and Dr. Pete Freeman officiated the service.
Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Shortnacy was born on May 8, 1965 in Mount Pleasant to Davy Shortnacy and Pennye Sheridan. He was a former East Texas Radio broadcaster, sports writer, photographer and disc jockey as well as an avid sports lover and coach.
He died Wednesday Jan. 22 at the Denton Regional Hospital.
Mr. Shortnacy was preceded in death by his grandparents; Geraldine Yarbrough and Louis Gaddis; and James Monroe and Rosilee Shortnacy.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Davy and Paula Shortnacy of Mount Pleasant, his mother, Pennye Sheridan of Mount Pleasant, wife, Christina McBurney of Corinth, daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Eric Chiles of Vilseck Germany, Lauren Shortnacy of Mount Pleasant, Lindsay Shortnacy of Mount Pleasant, and Avery McBurney of Corinth; brother and sister in law, Jason and Petra Shortnacy of Frisco; a granddaughter; special aunt, Peggy Douglas; numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Pallbearers were Chuck Ham, Randy Hinton, Raymond Doss, Stevie Joe Evans, Mark Stacks, Bill Douglas Jr., Gary Elliot, and Rex Amerson. Honorary Pallbearers were the Mount Vernon Class of 1983.
Memorials can be made to the Cypress Basin Hospice and to the Titus County Cares.
