Funeral services for Jack Hood, age 82 of Talco, will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at 2p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Tex., with Pastor Tommy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.
Mr. Hood was born March 14, 1931 in Arlington, Tex. He married Martha Earlyn Finley on Feb. 14, 1953. He was a deacon at Grace Baptist Church, and he worked for Bell Helicopter for 27 years.
He died on Saturday, Feb. 1 at his residence.
Mr. Hood is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Hood is survived by his wife, Earlyn, of Talco; a son, Jackie Hood, and wife Genie, of Franklin, County Tex.; a daughter, Patricia Ann Ritchie, and husband Bobby Mac, of Elk City, OK; a brother, Pat H. Hood, and wife Beverly, of Austin, Tex.; sisters, Bettye Jane Cole, and husband Martin, of Bryan, Tex., and Sallye Ann Robinson, and husband David, of Grand Prairie, Tex.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Shannon Steen, Clay Penny, Mike Dollins, Duston Wesson, Larry Crow, and Greg Gillette served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the Hood family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
