Vance Wayne Shaddox, age 51, of Hughes Springs, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away in the mid-morning hours of Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana.
Vance was born on October 27, 1962 in Dallas, Texas to Ruth Ann Johnson Shaddox and the late Harry T. Shaddox, Jr. Vance was born a special needs child with Down Syndrome.
Although Vance had a limited vocabulary, he didn’t need words to express his unconditional love for his beloved mother and extended family. “Little Cowboy”, as his mother would affectionately call him, loved watching cowboy movies and wearing cowboy boots and cowboy hats. He was in many ways an all American boy, he loved Coca-Cola with ice and chili cheese hot dogs. Vance had a very creative mind and loving heart. His 51 years were always a joy to his mother and an honor to so many who were privileged to know Vance.
Vance is survived by his mother, Ruth Duncan, and husband Gary, of Marietta, TX; one brother, Jason Karl Shaddox; one step-brother, Scott Duncan; two step-sisters, Amy Fennell and Sarah Parker; special aunts, Marjorie Kay Boyd and Jerri Rodgers; and step-grandfather, E.W. Duncan.
Vance was also preceded in death by one sister, Shawn
