Funeral services for Clay Deaton Mitchell, age 19 of Sulphur Bluff, were Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Sulphur Bluff High School Gym. Dr. Cecil McLeod, Rev. Mike Eason and Rev. Robert Newsom officiated.
Burial was in the Sulphur Bluff Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell died Friday, May 9, 2014. He was born on Sept. 23, 1994 in Paris, Tex., the son of W. O. Mitchell, Jr. and Angela DeatonMitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a 2013 graduate of Sulphur Bluff High School. He attended Clarendon College where he received a degree in 2014 in ranch and feedlot operations. Mr. Mitchell worked at Sulphur Bluff Ranch and was a member of the Sulphur Bluff Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Angela, and grandparents, Oran and Janice Mitchell, Sr.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his father; sisters, Courtney Mitchell of Austin, and Carmen Dufrene and husband, Bill, of Sulphur Bluff; nephews, Brady and Benton Dufrene; and grandparents, Carol and Darrell Deaton.
He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Brad Deaton of Sulphur Springs, John Mitchell and wife, Laura, of Pickton, Anida Reed and husband, Greg, of Como and Eva Froneberger and husband, Johnny, of Sulphur Springs; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Cole Mitchell, Ty Oliver, Markus Bassham, Tel Pitcock, Joe Bob Self, Keith Ogren, Will Wilson, and Wade Juarez. The 2013 Graduating Class of Sulphur Bluff High School, Don Sapaugh, Lee Pogue, Ryan Glenn, Colt Glenn, Colt Hernes, Blake Irwin, and Tyler Raine were honorary pallbearers.
