Lennie Lucile Teague Bailey passed away peacefully May 26, 2014 at home at the age of 88 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 8, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, Texas. The third of five children, she graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1943. Lennie began her career in civil service in 1944 in Dallas. She was an avid reader, bridge player, loved road trips, and delighted in cooking for family and friends while enjoying the occasional dessert, or two, or three. Upon entering her home, one would quickly become aware of her love of rabbits; her collection was made up of all forms and materials and included a sterling rabbit ring. Preceded in death by her parents Bernice and Hiram Teague, she is survived by her daughter, Sherry Owens of Dallas, grandson Rocky Owens and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home, 409 N. Kaufman St., Mt. Vernon on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 2:30 pm. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
