D. Bud Dickson

Funeral services for D. Bud Dickson, M.D., age 70 of Magnolia, Ark., were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12.
Dr. Dickson was born Nov. 19, 1939 in Mount Pleasant to Billy and Ura Cockrell Dickson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a Southern Arkansas University distinguished alumni, and he served and was chairman of the Board of Trustees at Southern Arkansas University. He was a graduate of Stamps High School and completed his undergraduate studies at Southern State College in Magnolia in 1965. He completed his medical studies at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine in Little Rock, Ark., in 1969. He finished his internship in general surgery at the Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in 1970-71 and his residencies in orthopedic rehabilitation at the Ranchos Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, Calif., in 1973. He finished his residencies in orthopedic surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass., from 1971-74.  He served Fellowships at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Mass. and Aufranc fellowships from 1974-75 in reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee.  
He died Tuesday, Aug. 10 in Magnolia, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Dickson.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Dickson of Magnolia, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Curtis Neeley of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Suzanne and Joe Murphy of Cornelius, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Robin Dickson of Matthews, N. C.; two step-daugthers and their spouses, Angela Smith of Maumelle and Lynn and Lee Buck of North Richland Hills; a step-son and his wife, Reese and Tabitha Lewis of Magnolia; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Sid and Anne Dickson of Stamps, Ark.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Manuel Nix of Stamps, many nieces and nephews, and his local relatives, Martha Hare and Mark and Debbie Hare of Bogata.
