Funeral services for Billy Joe Lindsey, age 79 of Mount Pleasant, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial was in the Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Bro. Dale Osteen and Bro. Doyle Hays officiating.
Mr. Lindsey was born April 12, 1931 in Titus County to Ezra Lindsey and Velma Mae Sinclair. He worked as a millwright at Lone Star Steel, was a member of the East New Hope Baptist Church, and the Titus County Historical Commission. He was president of the Barrett Cemetery Association and was a volunteer at The Food Pantry.
He died Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Titus County. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Jenett Crawley Lindsey of Mount Pleasant; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Aileen Lindsey of Mount Pleasant and Joe and Kathleen Lindsey of Gladewater; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Willie Vance of Carthage; six grandchildren, and numerous cousins.
