Funeral services for Tom Traylor, age 90 of Cookville, formerly of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Burial was in the Monticello Cemetery with Bro. Michael White officiating.
Mr. Traylor was born Sept. 26, 1920 in Titus County to Tillman and Mary Combs Traylor. He served during World War II in the United States Navy and afterwards worked as a newspaper printer for the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald in the late 1940s. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #70 and the Cookville Baptist Church.
He died Sunday, Nov. 7 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Amerson, his parents, a brother, George Traylor, and a sister, Elsie Traylor Amerson.
