Funeral services for Merrill Asher Wegley, Jr., age 87 of Kings Country, were at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Luthern Church. Burial was in the DFW National Cemetery with Mark Kimmell officiating.
Mr. Wegley was born Jan. 10, 1923 in Penn, Pa., to Merrill Asher Wegley and Elizabeth Barnes Wegley. He was married to Mary Vinita Price Wegley. He served in the United States Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery in the Phillipines and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star and was a member of the Good Shepherd Luthern Church for 30 years.
He died Friday, Nov. 26 in Tyler. He was preceded in death by two children, Gerald W. Wegley and Paul D. Wegley and a sister and a brother.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Wegley of Kings Country; two children, Merle Filecia and John Gaylon Wegley; five grandchildren, Jennifer Jo Wegley, Stephanie Ann Wegley, Krista Erin Filecia, Chris Wegley, and Merlo Rhodes; and a brother, Loughery Wegley.
