Memorial services for Don Thompson, age 78 of Mount Vernon, were from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23 at the family home on FM 2723.
Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 26, 1932 in Craig, Colo., to Monte Thompson and Lynnie Carroll. He was married to Joyce Marie Vernon. He served in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He was a commander at the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #3992.
He died Tuesday, Dec. 21 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Thompson of Mount Vernon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dickey and Stephanie Thompson of Hooks and Ricky Thompson of Port Arthur; a daughter and son-in-law, Shauna and Richie Stevens of Hooks; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
