Funeral services for John Spillman, age 80 of Mount Vernon, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Spillman Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Busch and J. C. Fountain officiating.
Mr. Spillman was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Dallas to Joe Shelby Spillman and Alice Amanda Trumbo. He was married to Anna Baker Spillman.
He died Saturday, Feb. 5 in Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Spillman of Mount Vernon; four children, John Spillman, Jr. of Beeville, Tex., James Spillman of Royce City, Sharon Nault of Muskogee, Okla., and Linda Kirkman of Mount Vernon; a brother, Frank Spillman of Garland; a sister, Martha Green of Balch Springs; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kenny Rollins, Galen Logan, Keith Kridler, Chris Guthrie, Don Chance, and James Hunt.
Honorary pallbearers were Howard Pearson, Max Rutledge, and Joe Ferrel
