Funeral services for James Dennis Hughes, age 60 of Mount Vernon, were at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes was born April 27, 1950 in Mesa, Ariz., to Lloyd William Hughes and Imogene Molton White. He was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church.
He died Sunday, April 24 at Titus Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Weldon Hughes and Lonnie Hughes, and a sister, Laquita Barton.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Brenda O’Briant; his mother, Imogene Molton White of Naples; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Amber Hughes of Mount Vernon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mistie Hughes of Plano and Selena and Joey Collier of Winnsboro; four grandchildren, two brothers, Jacky Hughes of Mount Vernon and Hollis Hughes of Midlothian; two sisters, Nelda Bank of Daingerfield and Jeri Reane Morrow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
