Funeral services for James C. Thomas, age 83 of Winfield, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial was in the Winfield Cemetery with Harold Amerson and L. C. Terry officiating.
Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 1, 1928 in Daingerfield to Marlie Thomas and Fama Holt. He served in the United States Army and was a Baptist.
He died Sunday, May 1 at East Texas Medical Center - Tyler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Thomas, a son, Gene Thomas, his parents, and a brother, Alton Thomas.
He is surived by a son, Jimmy Thomas; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Leon Thomas; a sister, Esther Thomas; a sister-in-law, Frances Aechternacht; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mark Rigney, Brett Thomas, Tommy Stansell, and Mark Stansell.
