Memorial services for Rev. William Preston Stuart, age 83 of Saltillo, were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Sunneyvale First Baptist Church in Sunneyvale, Tex.
Rev. Stuart was born April 9, 1928. He is originally from Point, Tex. and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a teacher, dairy farmer, and rancher. His calling and highest honor in life was to evangelize the Gospel. Rev. Stuart preached and evangelized the last 60 years across much of the Southwestern United States. He served as pastor of several churches including Gross Road Baptist Church in Mesquite, First Baptist Church in Balch Springs, and Purley Baptist Church, among others. He continued his radio program in Sulphur Springs until the last weeks of his life.
He died Sunday, July 3 after a fight with Leukemia.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Jean Davis Stuart; three sons, Michael, Harold, and Craig Stuart; three daughters-in-law, Kathy, Cindy, and Traci Stuart; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Dean Armstrong.
In honor of Rev. Stuart, donations may be made to Meadow Park Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, 707 Hwy. 37 S., Mount Vernon, Tex. 75457.
A private memorial service for Preston Wray, age 62 of Dallas, will be conducted at a later date.
Mr. Wray was born Feb. 17, 1949 in Mount Vernon to Fredrick M. Wray and Margaret Crouch.
He died Tuesday, July 5 in Dallas.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Wray of Mount Vernon; two sons, Freddie Wray and Kary Siggers, both of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Michael Wray and Bill Wray; a sister, Jo Ann Miller; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
