Funeral services for Alva Ray Talley, age 89 of Hagansport, were at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011 at the church of Christ in Talco. Burial was in the Collier Chapel Cemetery with John David Wright officiating.
Mr. Talley was born Oct. 29, 1921 in Franklin County to Mart Talley and Eunice Hume Talley. He was married to Christine Tully. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years.
He died Saturday, Aug. 20 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Alene Kosler, Mae Jean Talley, and Patricia Edwards; and a grandson, David Talley.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Talley of Hagansport; three children, James Talley of Port Neches, Kenneth Talley of Talco, and Martha Deming of Talco; a sister, Gay Stewart of Houston; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Frederick Talley, Douglas Talley, Michael Deming, Marcus Deming, Don Jones, and Tuin Vermoni. Melvin Brown and Max Tully served as honorary pallbearers.
