Funeral services for Madeline “Sue” Mathieu Arnold, age 78 of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at Harvey Funeral Home. Burial was in the Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Mrs. Arnold was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Eldorado, Ill., to August Joseph Matthieu and Effie May Upchurch. She married Winston “Pete” Arnold on Jan. 3, 1954 in Eldorado. She lived in the Phillipines, France, and many other states, where he was stationed in the United States Air Force. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She died Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Joseph, Edward, and Charles Matthieu, and sisters, Dorothy May Mathieu, Betty Lou Mathieu, and Ruth Mathieu Dorman Brooks.
She is survived by her husband, Winston Arnold of Mount Vernon; four sons and their spouses, James W. and Juanita Arnold and Vincent R. Arnold, all of Mount Vernon, Terry Lee and Terry Lynn Arnold of Federal Way, Wash., and Joseph A. Arnold of Longview; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Jewel Baldwin, Wilma Shelton, and June Bean.
Pallbearers were Kevin Anderson, James Arnold, Jason Arnold, Dylan Arnold, Chris Carroll, and Matthew Arnold.
