Funeral services for Helen France Carr, age 83 of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Macon Cemetery.
Mrs. Carr was born Sept. 13, 1928 in Dallas to Jakie J. France and Helen Leotis Leath. She was married to Roy Alton Carr. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas and attended Burroughs Business College in Dallas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon.
She died Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Mission Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a brother.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Alton Carr of Mount Vernon; a son, Owen Carr of Petersburg, Tex.; a daughter, Helen Elaine Carr Collins of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister, Wyiona Huddleston of Murphy, Tex.; and a brother, Jakie J. France, Jr., of DeSoto.
Pallbearers were Stephen Smith, Brandon Carr, Randall Carr, Clint Collins, Tulley Martin, and Luke Bower.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beacon Hospice, Gideon’s or the charity of choice.
