Graveside services for Lawton Jones, age 94 of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at the Monticello Cemetery with Rev. Craig Stewart officiating.
Mr. Jones was born Jan. 23, 1917 in Shelby, Tenn., to Cody Jones and Gracie Gross. He was married to Wilton Stovall Jones.
He died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 in Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Kathy Carr.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Fejeran of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
