Funeral services for Mildred Birchfield, age 90 of Talco, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 at Welborn Funeral Home. Burial was in the Gladewater Cemetery with Bro. John Wright and Bro. John Hines officiating.
Mrs. Birchfield was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Mount Pleasant to Percy and Lessie Crooks Poag. She was retired from Rivercrest ISD.
She died Saturday, Jan. 21 in Mount Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Birchfield, her parents, two sons, Don and Rodney Birchfield, and a sister, Lurlene Derrick.
She is survived by a daughter, Rita Birchfield of Mount Pleasant; four sons, Larry Birchfield of Dallas, David Birchfield, Johnny Birchfield, and Ronnie and Evette Birchfield, all of Talco; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a niece, two nephews, and her dog.
Pallbearers were Jacob Birchfield, Cole Birchfield, Clint Birchfield, Chance Belcher, Hunter Richeson, Ethan Moore, and Chris Gentry. Honorary pallbearers were Pete McGee, Hudson Gentry, Charlie Perry, Joey Taylor, and Bobby Simmons
