Funeral services for Carolyn McCurdy, age 59 of Scroggins, were at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. Burial was in the Conner Cemetery in Dike with Rev. Tony Davis officiating.
Mrs. McCurdy was born July 8, 1952 in Sulphur Springs to John Bernice and Mary Ann Cayton Goldsmith. She married Glen McCurdy. She was a homemaker, worked at the Mount Vernon Elementary School cafeteria, and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5398 in Pittsburg. She was a member of the the Group 12 Motorcycle Club. She was a Baptist.
She died Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She is survived by her husband, Glen McCurdy of Scroggins; a daughter, Dana Goldsmith of Sulphur Springs; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Berty Wayne and Sheila Goldsmith of Big Lake, Tex., and Ronnie and Carron Goldsmith of Dallas; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Bennie Hammons of Fort Towson, Okla., Linda Walton of Forney, Cindy and Thurman Newkirk of Sulphur Springs, Regina Goldsmith of Sulphur Springs, Irene Goldsmith of Dallas, and Mistie and Charles Knighton of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, a great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Larry Nichols, Lynn Newton, Lyman Duckwitz, Bob Kerr, Johnny Marshal, Roy Strout, and John Largent.
