Funeral services for Lillian Shiels, age 93 of Kingston, N. Y., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the A. Carr and Son Funeral Home in Kingston, N. Y. Burial will be in the Wiltwyck Cemetery in Kingston with Rev. Charles Stickley officiating.
Mrs. Shiels was born Dec. 6, 1918 in Pittsfield, Mass. to Chaloner and Minnie Langenbach Whitaker. She attended Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield, Mass. She was a manager for IBM in Kingston before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, a member of the Chapter 155 Eastern Star, the Business Professional Womens Club YWCA, and a board member for the Town of Ulster Library for over 10 years.
She died on Monday, Feb. 27 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, N. Y. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, F. Willard Shiels, and her siblings, Roy Whitaker, Evelyn Fahey, Barbara Whitaker, Madeline Whitaker, Minnie Sperling, and Dorothy Chapman.
She is survived by her children, Darlene Shiels of Kingston, Ronald and Diane Shiels of Hurley, N. Y., Thomas Shiels of Dallas and Mount Vernon, Chaloner Whitaker, Jr., and his wife, Vicki, of Waxahachie, Ruth Best of Chicopee, Mass.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
