Funeral services for Larry Daniel Sparks, age 73 of Winnsboro, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at Beaty Funeral Home. Burial was in the Bethal Cemetery with Bro. Earl Duggins, Bro. Danny Suiter, and Bro. David Hendricks officiating.
Mr. Sparks was born in Scroggins on Sept. 7, 1938 to Ernest T. Sparks and Myrtle Lee Jordan Sparks. He was retired from Wintex Construction, a cattle rancher, and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. He was a member of the American Brahman Breeders Association. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School and the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas.
He died Monday, Feb. 20. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Sparks of Winnsboro; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Lee and Helen Sparks of Dripping Springs and Ernest T. Sparks of Breckenridge; his daughters and sons-in-law, Robbie Lynn and Tony Musson of Bentonville, Ark., Dana Kay and Jess Howard of Victoria; a brother, Melvin Lee Sparks of Scroggins; his sisters, Janell French of Tulsa, Okla., Earlenne Swanner of Scroggins; eleven grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Roy McGahee and Mike McGahee.
Pallbearers were Kinny Lester, Bill Smith, Milton West, Sloan McGahee, Nix Simons, Johnny Harper, and Bill Sutphin. Honorary pallbearers were Leon Benton, Ricky Swanner, Lynn Swanner, Sabrina Walker, Judy Maddox, Jackie Ward, Jill Williams, Jeannie Sigler, and Terry Qualls.
