Funeral services for Mary M. Locke, age 84 of Mount Pleasant, were at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27 at Providence Baptist Church in Tool, Texas.
Mrs. Locke was born on April 2, 1928 in Rattan, La. to Cleavy and Zaidee Evans Vogel. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Tool for 35 years. She was active in volunteer work as First Lady in Tool from1969 to 1981 and later served on the Tool City Council from 1990 to 1994. She taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for 32 years. She did beautician work at Cedar Creek Nursing Home and served on the United Land Board of Directors.
She died on April 25, 2012 in Mount Pleasant. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Buddy Metcalf, Oran White, and Millard Locke, her parents, three brothers, Buck, Charles, and Paul, and two sisters, Mildred and Willa Mae.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy White of Mabank, Robert and Lori White of Dunnellon, Fla., and Tommy and Ronda White of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
