C. H. “Pete” Hollingworth, age 79 of Winnsboro, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Temple in Mount Vernon with Bro. Troy Hollingsworth, Bro. John Gandy, III, Bro. Ernest Hodge, and Bro. Lessl House officiating.
Burial was in the Providence Cemetery with Donnie Wilson, Tommy Baugh, Forrest Reynolds, Charles Clayton Spruill, Omer Miller, and Mike Henley serving as pallbearers. John Gandy, Sr. was an honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born Oct. 24, 1932 in Franklin County to Charles Milton Hollingworth and Ida Bernice Blanchett. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple, Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge #691, and a member of the Sons of the Confederate #441. He served in the United States Navy from April 6, 1950 to Oct. 21, 1953. He was retired law enforcement and a retired Baptist minister who earned his bachelors degree from Dallas Baptist University. He also attended El Centro College and earned his associates in applied arts and sciences and Southern Baptist Center for Biblical Studies earning his bachelors of ministry and bachelor of arts in biblical studies. Mr. Hollingsworth married Nell Marie Eskridge in Dallas County, Tex., on May 8, 1961.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Hollingsworth of Winnsboro; seven children and their spouses, LaQuita and Bob DeMarco of Valley Springs, Calif., Vickie Villiborghi of Valley Springs, Calif., Troy and Shelley Hollingsworth of Pickton, Nannette and Timothy Spruill of Mount Pleasant, Kirby and Patricia Hollingsworth of Mount Vernon, Gregory and Kristi Hollingworth of Winnsboro, and Donny and Patricia McClure of Mount Pleasant; 16 grandchildren, Derick Meyers, Melanie DeMarco, Darci Kappmeyer, Lillie Fender, Myra Hollingsworth, Savannah Hollingsworth, Micah Hollingsworth, Timmy Lee Spruill, Natalie Vincent, Clayton Spruill, Marcus Hollingsworth, Kara Hollingsworth, Blake Hollingsworth, Madison Hollingsworth, , Ethan Hollingworth, and Ayden Hollingsworth; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Earl Hollingsworth of Purley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Sean Meyers.
