Funeral services for Bob Messer, age 78 of Sulphur Springs, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs with Rev. John Crist, Rev. Gary Hampton and Rev. Verne Hawkins officiating.
Burial was in the Black Oak Cemetery with William Messer, Joe Crist, Henry Garvin, Charles Westbrook, Kevin Harris, Slade Thompson, William Kirby, Charleston Messer and Jeff Kirby serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Messer was born Oct. 19, 1933 in Conroe to Bowman Messer and Edmae Garvin Messer. He married Ann Graham in Dallas on May 1, 1954. He was retired from Westbrook Ready-Mix and a member of Elm Ridge Baptist Church.
He died Thursday, June 7 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Messer of Sulphur Springs, a daughter, Janice Crist of Como; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Messer of Terrell; two sisters, Loretta McDaniel of Pickton and Grace Berger of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
