A celebration of the life of Flonnie Lou Jones Swain, age 96 of Jal, N. Mex., formerly of Saltillo, was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 at the First Baptist Church in Jal. Services were conducted by Rev. David Fletcher and Rev. Mike May. Burial was in the Jal Cemetery.
Mrs. Swain was born July 4, 1916, in Maple Springs, Tex., to Marion and Mary Elizabeth Jones. She married George G. Swain Oct. 14, 1934, in Valley Springs, Tex. She lived in Jal since 1947 except for 17 years spent in Saltillo, Tex., after retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jal.
She died on Monday, July 23 in Hobbs, N. Mex. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years on Sept. 6, 1999, and four brothers, three sisters and one son-in-law.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, George A. and Carolynn Swain of Jal, Harold and Roxie Swain of Jal, Ronnie and Carrie Swain of Monahans, Tex., and two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Buddy Phillips of Tulsa, Okla. and Jaqutea Crawford of Jal. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild due in October, and several nieces and nephews.
