Funeral services for Billie Jane Jahn, age 90 of Temple, were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at Harper -Talasek Funeral Home. Burial was in the Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Mrs. Jahn was born Dec. 12, 1921 in Byers, Tex., to Thomas Oscar Downing and Molly Verona Kennemer Downing. She married Edward Louis Jahn, Sr. in Frederick, Okla. on Dec. 6, 1942. She was a registered nurse for 53 years, working with various facilities. In 1993, she retired from Scott and White Hospital. She also earned a Ph.D in nursing education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Temple, the Joy Singers, the Senior Choir, and the Triple L Senior Social Club, all part of the First Baptist Church.
She died Saturday, Aug. 11. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, Sr.; her sons, James Thomas Jahn and Thomas Leitha Jahn; her sisters, Olive Gertrude Downing-Hall, Jerri Nell Downing-Cannaday, and one grandchild.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Antoinette Jahn and Richard Millslagle of Aguanga, Calif., and Janette Jahn of Temple; her son, Edward Louis Jahn, Jr. of Shreveport, La; eight grandchildren, eight-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, cards and food, the family request memorials to be made to a charity of donors’ choice.
