Wesley Leon Holmes was born December 27th, 1928 in Lakeview, Texas of Franklin Country. Wes served in the Air Force from 1948-1955. He left into God’s eternal time zone on Monday, October 22nd, 2012 in Mt. Vernon, Texas of Franklin County. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Smith-Holmes, of sixty-two years, his son, Dan Wesley Holmes, his three daughters, Mary Kathleen Heitz, Amy Sue Holmes, and Rebecca Lynne Austin, beloved grandchildren, David, Clay, Jenny, Missy, Cameron, Johnny, Sarah, and Claire, and three great grandchildren, Jilly, Jett, and Hazel. He was also blessed with two living brothers, Bill and Jerry Holmes. He will be greatly missed by all of us. This is a tribute to a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he was a great and honorable mentor and avid sportsman. He loved his family and adored his wife. He never missed an opportunity to tell a ghost story or scare the grandkids about the purple bears. He loved his church and will be missed dearly.
