Graveside services for Earl Eugene Johnson, age 81 of McKinney, were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23,2012, at Providence Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born on Aug. 28, 1931, in Eddy, Tex. He was the son of Saint Elmer Johnson and Myrtle Ivy Kinsel Johnson. He graduated from Belton High School and attended Tarleton State College. He was a member of the National Guard for almost twenty years. He was a branch manager for Exxon for most of his adult life, moving from Texas to California, Maryland, Missouri, and New York.
He was married to Dorothy Clanton Johnson and had five children, Woody Johnson of St. Louis, Mo., Scott Johnson of Bossier City, La., Betsy McKinney of Sylvia, Kans., Susan Huizinga of Mount Vernon, and Jennifer Templeton of McKinney.
He retired from Exxon, moving to Mount Vernon in 1978. He worked in sales for both Lowry’s and Shelton’s Furniture. Towards the end of his life, he lived in Hutchinson, Kans., and then McKinney.
He died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents and all five of his siblings.
He is survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
