Funeral services for Ruie Lucille Brooks Forsyth, age 81 of Mount Vernon, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the Sam Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Providence Cemetery.
Mrs. Forsyth was born Jan. 22, 1931 in Red River County to Marvin Jackson Brooks and Fannie Frances Smith. She married Jewell Forsyth on May 21, 1947. He died in 1985.
She was a caregiver, seamstress, and homemaker.
She died Friday, Nov. 9 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, infant Richard, Jerry, and Mack; four brothers, infants Jessie and Rayford, Doyle Brooks and Hershel Brooks, a son-in-law, John Stephens, and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Forsyth.
She was survived by five sons, Tommy Forsyth of Mount Vernon, Robert Forsyth of Paris, Ronald Forsyth of Mount Vernon, Jimmy Forsyth of Monahans, and Edwin Forsyth of Texarkana; four daughters, Shirley Logan of Haughton, La., Sharon Forsyth of Mount Vernon, Sally Wallace of Talco, and Carolyn Stephens of Talco; one sister, Barbara Crouse of Mount Vernon; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Russell Forsyth, T. J. Forsyth, Dale Alsup, Bob Forsyth, Jimmy Forsyth, and Josua Stephens. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Forsyth and John Stephens.
