Funeral services for Barbara Jean Steward, age 70 of Mount Pleasant, were at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery with Rev. Mike Kessler officiating.
Mrs. Steward was born Sept. 9, 1942 in Haleyville, Ala., to Jessie Sanford Harris and Eula Irene Teague Harris. She was married to D. J. Steward. She worked for Farraghs Hallmark.
She died Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Titus Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandchild, R. J. Steward.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis “Denni” and Mystie Steward of Mount Vernon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Rodney Baugh and Tammie and Mike Blount; four grandchildren, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Kelly King and Michelle and Mitchell Sawyer.
