Funeral services for Charles Weldon Richey age 92 of Scroggins, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsborol. Burial was in the Pine Forest Cemetery with Bro. Ronny Spence officiating.
Mr. Richey was born on Thursday, Aug. 12, 1920 in Hopkins County to Andrew F. and Lora Howard Richey. He was a veteran of World War II, a farmer, carpenter and a musician.
He died on Thursday, Jan. 24 in Mount Vernon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Mae Evers Richey,his parents, his brothers, Gordon, William, and Troy Richey, his sister, Juanita Richey Miller, and two grandsons, Rocky Shelton and Jacob Richey.
He is survived by a son, Stuart Richey and his wife, Charlotte of Mount Vernon; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Sonny Shelton of Scroggins, Paula and John Gullo of Crockett, Beverly and Don Gibson of Garland, Rose Mary and Mike Gunn of Scroggins, Janis and Bill Crosby of Hideaway Lake, Katherine and Craig Lacy of Mineola; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Della Richey of Mineola.
