Phone service lost Friday at sheriff’s office, 9-1-1 operational

Phone service at the Franklin County Sheriff’s office was lost for about 24 hours when the county’s system switched providers from Verizon to Suddenlink on Friday evening at 9:21 p.m.

Guthrie metal work can be found both far and near

Teens at the Lunches of Love program are learning how to make their own healthy snacks during the activity time.Teens at the Lunches of Love program are learning how to make their own healthy snacks during the activity time. Last week, the teens made strawberry freezer jam, which can be kept in the refrigerator for up to three weeks or frozen up to a year.

Lunches of Love to start Tuesday

Lunches of Love will begin on Tuesday, July 8 and continue through Thursday, August  14. Bus transportation will be provided; however, children will not be permitted to board a bus if they have not returned a fully completed and signed registration packet.

The Alzheimer Support Group for the Mount Vernon area will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 at the Franklin County Library on the square. Caregivers, families, and friends are encouraged to attend the event to share information and learn ways to deal with Alzheimers.
